There are numerous reasons to travel to Shanghai. The diversity of choice covers theatre, shopping, sightseeing and cultural pursuits; Shanghai wants you to discover what it has to show. A heady mix of towering skyscrapers, an iconic harbour, and an energetic fusion of east and west, longstanding, and contemporary with a dash of modernity, is Shanghai.

The peak seasons in Shanghai cover April to May and September to October. The city can get very crowded, especially for the main attractions. We advise that you reserve your tickets to Shanghai several months in advance for either of these two periods. During the off-peak season temperatures can reach 35 degrees Celsius and the humidity can sometimes become a little over-powering. In the winter temperatures rarely exceed 10 degrees. Not surprisingly, these are the best times to find cheap hotels in Shanghai. The city is also significantly less crowded with no loss of spark or allure.
