Depending on your membership tier, you may be entitled to take extra bags for free. Etihad Guest Silver members can take an additional 10kg, Gold members can take an additional 15kg and Platinum members an additional 20kg. If your items are larger than our maximum dimensions, you'll be charged an oversized baggage fee. Pay US $40 each way for flights within the Middle East, between the Middle East and the Indian Subcontinent and between Beijing and Nagoya. For all other flights you’ll pay US $60 each way.
You'll be charged an oversized fee to carry a TV larger than 32 inches for flights to or from the US, or 40 inches to or from the rest of the world. More about your baggage allowance.
Bikes, scuba diving equipment, skis, poles, ski boots, surfboards and golf bags are exempt from oversized baggage fees and can be included as part of your baggage allowance.
Any items weighing more than 32kg or longer than 300cm will not be accepted.

Excess baggage fees per kg: Excess baggage fees vary depending on where you are flying to and from. If you’re travelling from the Middle East or Indian Subcontinent, this will cost between $25 – $40 per kg, or $35 – $50 per kg from all other countries excluding the US or Canada.
Excess baggage fees per bag or item: If you’re travelling to or from the US or Canada, you can increase your baggage allowance to 32kg. This will cost between $91 – $115, depending on your destination. Otherwise, it will cost between $208 – $280 to add an additional bag weighing up to 23kg, or between $262 – $335 to add an additional bag weighing up to 32kg.

All extra baggage payments are non-refundable.
If you’re flying to or from the US or Canada, you can only book one extra bag of up to 23kg online. If you need to take even more baggage, you can pay to take up to 32kg by phoning our Contact Centre 48 hours before your flight to receive a 10% discount. Alternatively, pay for your extra baggage at the airport.
If your journey involves more than one airline, any extra baggage charges will be determined by whichever airline is the Most Significant Carrier (MSC) – this is usually the airline operating the longest part of the journey, as defined by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Our agents will be able to share the extra baggage fees with you when you check in.
You can carry one set of golf clubs for free (weighing up to 15kg) in addition to your baggage allowance. A set includes clubs, balls and one pair of golf shoes (an umbrella is considered an extra item.)

Guide dogs and service animals are permitted in the cargo hold for free as part of your checked baggage allowance. All other pets must be transported as manifested cargo. Regulations may vary depending on where you are flying from, so it’s always better to check well in advance. To avoid any delays at the airport, please make sure that you have the correct permits and documentation for your pet to travel.
Falcons are permitted to travel for a fee on all Etihad aircraft, either on board, as checked baggage or as manifested cargo.
You can carry up to 5 litres of Zamzam water for free in addition to your checked baggage allowance. It must be safely packed and labelled in a sealed plastic container, covered by a protective cardboard box. These are widely available at pilgrimage sites. You may also carry up to 100ml of Zamzam water within your cabin baggage. It must be carried in a transparent, re-sealable plastic container or bag. It is not possible to pay to carry more Zamzam water as extra baggage.
Cameras, film, lighting and sound equipment can be included as part of your baggage allowance as long as they weigh no more than 32kg and do not exceed the maximum dimensions of 300cm.
When you’ve booked your extra bags, you’ll receive a baggage voucher based on weight, number of items or a combination of both. Make sure to keep it handy and present it when you check in at the airport.
Extra baggage is subject to availability. If your bags can’t be transported on your flight, we will load them onto the next available service.
Purchasing extra baggage with our Contact Centre or at the airport? We recommend you use a credit card. Debit cards are not accepted via our Contact Centres and some airports do not accept cash. All extra baggage payments are non-refundable.
