If you're transferring in Abu Dhabi, the maximum connection time is 12 hours. If the time between your connecting flights exceeds 12 hours, you will not be permitted to check in.

Check-in opens four hours before your scheduled departure time and closes 60 minutes ahead of your flight if you’re travelling in Economy or 45 minutes if you’re flying in Business.
If you’re flying direct to the US, check-in will close two hours before your scheduled departure time. Please make sure to arrive at the US preclearance facility 60 minutes before your flight. With our Smart Travel service, save time at immigration by registering to use our e-border gates on departure and arrival (subject to the validity of our visa).
