Football Club

Sport has the power to unite people in a way that little else can; through teamwork and tolerance. These values resonate with us at Etihad, which is just one reason why we’re so proud of our long-standing partnership with Manchester City Football Club.

Etihad Stadium

First used as the venue for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, Etihad Stadium is now the homeplace of MCFC; a world-class venue with the capacity to seat 55,000 cheering fans. Man City moved from their old home at Maine Road to the state-of-the-art facility at the start of the 2003-04 season. Formerly known as the City of Manchester Stadium, the venue was renamed in July 2011 to proudly carry the Etihad title.

Etihad Stadium forms part of the wider Etihad Campus, housing the smaller Man City Academy stadium and training facility, as well as the Manchester Regional Arena.

If you’re flying in for a match, getting to Etihad Stadium is easy. It takes about half an hour to drive from the airport, either via the M60, or the M56 and Kingsway/A34. There are plenty of public transport options too. A taxi will cost about AED150, you can take bus route 219 for AED40, or you can take the train and tram for about the same cost.
