For peace of mind and protection, we always recommend you purchase travel insurance before your trip. You'll have the option to add travel insurance when you book your flight at etihad.com.
Travel Guard is provided by subsidiaries and affiliates of AIG.
Whether you’re travelling for business or leisure, Travel Guard is available for residents of Australia, Bahrain, France, Germany, Greece, Ireland, Italy, Kuwait, Switzerland, Thailand (English, Thai), the UAE and the UK.
Simply select your country of residence to download your policy. We recommend that you download and print the policy wording, and keep it safe in case you need it.
If you contract COVID-19 before your trip, you could be covered if you have to cancel your trip. You will have to show a confirmed diagnosis, including proof of illness from your doctor that states you are medically unable to travel at the time of departure.
If you become ill with COVID-19 while on a covered trip, you could be covered for Medical Expense, Trip Curtailment and Hospital Cash benefits as long as there is a confirmed diagnosis, including proof of illness from a doctor.
All cover is subject to the terms and conditions of your insurance policy.
If you are quarantined as a result of COVID-19, you could be covered under the Trip Cancellation or Curtailment benefit, subject to the terms and conditions of your insurance policy.
If an official government agency advises against all non-essential travel to your intended destination after you have booked your trip and travel insurance, you could be covered under the Trip Cancellation benefit of your policy. However, we suggest that you contact your travel provider to request a refund.
No, you are not covered if you cancel your trip because you are concerned about Coronavirus, though you may be eligible for an insurance premium refund.

Travel Guard is available for Etihad Airways passengers who are residents of Australia, Bahrain, France, Germany, Greece, Irelans, Italy, Kuwait, Switzerland, Thailand, the UAE and the UK. Passengers must be over three months old and be a legal resident of the country they are flying from. For policies purchased in Thailand, please refer to the Thailand eligibility conditions.
Travel Guard covers you for the duration of your trip up to a maximum of 90 days. If you are travelling from Australia or Thailand, you may be covered for up to 180 days.
You’ll be covered from 12:01 am the day after you purchase your Travel Guard policy. All other benefits will be effective from the date that of your trip. For policies purchased in Thailand, please refer to the Thailand eligibility conditions.
Travel Guard insurance is limited to Etihad Airways and their Codeshare partner flights within the Etihad Airways network.

You are only entitled to a refund if you cancel a policy purchased from one of the countries listed above. You may also be entitled to a refund in unforeseen emergencies such as illness or death. Pre-existing medical conditions and injuries are not covered. For policies purchased in Thailand, please refer to the Thailand eligibility conditions.
You cannot change your Travel Guard policy. In the event that your flight is rescheduled, the new period of insurance will begin on the rescheduled date. If you are travelling from Thailand, please refer to the Thailand eligibility conditions.
Contact the Claims Offices to report a claim. A representative will review your claim and explain what type of information they need. You will need to fax or mail the claim form with any additional documentation.
We aim to process claims within 21 days of receiving the required documentation.
Please contact your local agent to dispute a claim.
No, Travel Guard does not cover a claim if the airline cancels the flight.
